Worship

Our Sunday services are grounded in life-related and Bible-based teaching with also a strong emphasis in worship. In the morning the services are either :-

Family Worship
This all-age service takes place every Sunday at 10.45am, with refreshments served from 10.15am. The format is very often informal and presented in a seeker-friendly style. It uses material that follows a theme through the month and is consistent for both the adults and childrens groups.

Communion
This takes place on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Sunday of the month at 10.45am during the Family Worship. Within this service we share communion together and invite all who know and love Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour to share fully in this meeting.

Our Evening Service commences at 7.00pm and can bring both Bible teaching and evangelistic preaching. On the first and third Sunday of each month this also includes communion. The young people of the Church conduct a number of services throughout the year and from time to time there is a missionary emphasis from groups that are supported by the fellowship.

Music
Music plays a vital role within all the Sunday services. The Music Team seek to create an environment where the church can in an open and reflective way bring their worship, praise and thanksgiving to God through music. The present styles used range from the more traditional sound of the organ to the contemporary approach of the worship band to the full 40-piece church orchestra.

You can find out more about the Music Team at Meadow Way Chapel via the link on the main menu.

Prayer and Bible Study

Home Groups
Home Groups meet on various evenings each week. These are small groups that offer the opportunity for prayer, worship, Bible study, support and fellowship under the direction of Home Group leaders. The groups are all responsible for the pastoral care of their members, praying for them and looking out for any practical needs they may have. If you wish to join a Home Group please contact the Elders who will advise you which group will be most appropriate for you.

Other Prayer
Prayer is held every Thursday between 7.00 and 8.00 am, for the work of the church and individual needs. Other special prayer meetings are held from time to time. A prayer chain is also in operation within the Church so that immediate and urgent prayer requests can be made.

Focus (1+2)
These are groups for ladies who meet once a month for prayer and fellowship. Group one is for younger women and group two for slightly older women!

Children's and Youth Work

Many young people are involved in the life and work of the Church. The following activities are provided :

Sunday

A creche is always provided during the worship and communion service.
Sunday Club meets each morning for 3-11 year olds. There are three classes: pre-school, reception  and year 1, school years 2 and 3 and years 4 to 6.
Bible Class meets each morning for school years 8-10.

Oasis
There is a weekly youth club on Friday evening for school year 7 and above. We have a separate site dedicated to the children's and youth work of the church, see the main menu for a link to this site.

Kingzone
This is a monthly children's event for those aged 8 to 12. The event lasts for 2 hours and is packed with loads of activities and games to choose from, a tuck shop and finishes with a celebration. Everyone is welcome and it's free to attend. There will also be events during the year away from the church.

Each summer
There are two camps organised each summer by the church, CUTS "camp under the Son" for children aged 8 to school year 6 and "SonRise" for those in school years 7 to 11.

Pastoral Care

Caring for one another is an important part of the Church's ministry.

The Home Groups act as the primary pastoral contact under each of their leaders. Every member is part of a Home Group and is encouraged to notify the group leader of any pastoral needs that he/she may have.

There is a team of visitors who have undertaken to visit people in their homes and at hospital. The elderly and housebound are of particular concern.

Social Action

Luncheon Club
This is held every other Thursday from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm for up to 50 people, mostly elderly. They enjoy a cooked lunch prepared in the Chapel kitchen, followed by hymn singing, and a short epilogue.

Day Centre
On Tuesdays the Chapel premises are used by Norfolk County Council Social Services as a Day Centre for people with learning difficulties.

Chapel Court Centre
On Wednesdays the premises are used as a centre for those in our community who have had mental health problems.

Meadow Way Toddlers
This group is held on Monday and Friday mornings during school term and is open to parents or carers with babies and toddlers.

Saturday Special
Throughout the year a number of Saturday afternoons and evenings have been set aside for the elderly and lonely to enjoy afternoon tea, board games, someone to chat with, entertainment and a short Bible-based talk. During the summer months occasional outings are arranged.

Ethel Tipple Court
Twice a month the church takes a short service at Ethel Tipple Court residential home for the elderly.

Meadow Way Chapel Community Worker
In the latter part of 2006, the Elder's of Meadow Way Chapel and the Trustees of Hawthorne Meadow Trust agreed to jointly work together so as to:

"Employ a person, or couple, to provide the necessary support to the elderly by way of help with transport, advising, organising, and supervising internal and external maintenance work, and situations of a similar nature".

Meadow Way Chapel has been supporting the work of the elderly of this suburb for over 30 years since its formation and is well known locally. Not so well known is the Hawthorne Meadow Trust.  The Trust, which has close connections with the Chapel, was formed in 1996 to provide affordable accommodation, at a subsidised rent, to the elderly in the Hellesdon area and currently owns 2 properties. Part of the Trust's initial vision was also to employ a person, or couple, to provide the necessary pastoral support for this important work.

To this end we appointed Thelma Robertson as our fulltime Meadow Way Chapel Community Worker. The role commenced from 1st January 2007. There are many activities fully involving Thelma and these include Saturday Special, Tuesday Break, Luncheon Club, Hellesdon Community Friendship Club and Ethel Tipple. Further details of each of these activities can be found on this website.

Outreach and Mission

Tuesday Break
This is held every other Tuesday from 2.30 - 3.30 pm. This is a group for friendship, cup of tea and looking at Bible-based topics.

Challenge Newspaper
This is distributed every month to houses in the immediate area of the Chapel.

Meadow Way Chapel Orchestra
The Chapel orchestra is made up of people of all ages, although there is also a core of adult instrumentalists. The orchestra plays in some church services and provides a number of charity concerts during the year.

Mission Link
The Chapel supports various societies and those of its members involved in mission. This group ensures that the church is fully informed of all missionary activities that it is financially and prayerfully supporting.

Y Course
This group provides an informal setting for anyone interested in finding out about the Christian faith, in a friendly environment.

Meadow Way Chapel Football Club
Playing in the Norfolk Christian League, the team brings together both Christians and Non-Christians to play against other Churches and Christian based organisations.
